In 1947, California-based interior designer Marjorie Reese Carson found herself in a quandary. Brimming with ideas for her clients’ posh homes, she was without the proper means to implement them, as the items from her mind’s eye did not exist. Finding that necessity is indeed the mother of invention, she hired two upholsterers and took to a chicken coop. This bold move ultimately resulted in her creating her own furniture lines and decorative upholstery to fill the need left void by the market.
The company soon flourished and embarked on a series of product expansions. By 1953, improved production facilities were established in Rosemead, California, a suburb of Los Angeles, where the offices and factory still stand today. Currently a privately held company, Marge Carson, Inc. remains committed to creating uniquely beautiful, quality furniture.
